Description

Authentic, extremely rare, quite possibly one-of-a-kind, Canned Heat STEREO MASTER REFERENCE ACETATE from Liberty Records.
Stamped with the date of 5-19-70, this is the acetate produced for the 45 single released by Liberty ten days later on May 29, 1970 containing "Future Blues" as an A side and "Goin' Up The Country" as a B side.
Two months prior, on March 26, 1970, the Woodstock film was released, featuring the studio version of "Goin' Up The Country", originally released on the 1968 Canned Heat album Living the Blues. It can be surmised that the song's inclusion as a B-side on a new single two years later would have been done due to it's renewed popularity after the release of Woodstock.
The new single, "Future Blues", would subsequently be released two months later on August 3, 1970 as the title track on the album of the same name.
On September 3, 1970, one month later and just over three months past the song's re-issue as a B-side, "Goin' Up The Country" songwriter and Canned Heat member Alan Wilson would be found dead at age 27 after a suspected barbiturate overdose.
Although there are many CANNED HEAT reference records out there, I have never seen another example of this one.
This record is in VG++/EX condition, with some surface markings primarily outside the listening surface area. There is some slight background noise noticed upon a one-time playback test, but all-in-all this acetate sounds phenomenal. With VG+ original sleeve.
Museum-quality piece for the collector or fan.
