Description

Fabulous copy of the very rare Columbia stereo issue of Mendelssohn's Incidental Music to 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' with Heather Harper Soprano, Janet Baker Contralto, Otto Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra & Chorus, catalogue no. SAX 2393 on the blue and silver label.

Side 1: Band 1: Overture, Op.21, Band 2: Scherzo, Op.61 No.1, Band 3: March of the Fairies, Op.61 No.2a, Band 4: Ye spotted snakes, Op.61 No.3 (with Heather Harper, Janet Baker & Chorus)

Side 2: Band 1: Intermezzo, Op.61 No.5, Band 2: Nocturne, Op.61 No.7, Band 3: Wedding March, Op.61 No.9, Band 4: Funeral March, Op.61 No.10a, Band 5: Dance of the Clowns, Op.61 No.11, Band 6: Finale, Op.61 (with Heather Harper & Chorus)

The sleeve is in EX condition, if not slightly better. There are a couple of very minor corner scuffs and 4 or five equally minor spine creases, plus a little storage creasing on the back above the bottom flipback. An exemplary sleeve for its age.

Vinyl is EX plus condition; labels are extremely clear and bright, with very barely noticeable evidence of spindle wear and a clear, raised tax code (HT) on side 1. There is a very small (1cm) light mark at the beginning of side 1, band 1, but this does not affect the superb playing quality of this very rare record.

All in all, a fantastic opportunity to bid on what is becoming an increasingly hard to find Columbia blue/silver label Stereo LP.

Standard UK Postage &Packing will be £2.50, EUR £4.00, USA and rest of world £7.00. Extra insurance will be recommended over a certain value, at buyer's expense.
