Description

I lived across the street from J Mascis in Amherst Mass. One day, lured by the sound of his band playing (then Dinosaur) I went to investigate. I met J and his band mates. J gave me this album soon after on one of my visits to his house. I was playing in a band at the time called " high Speed Vomit" also a hardcore punk band. I was especially impressed by J's drumming. We were all still in high school at the time, around 1985. I stayed friends with all the members of Deep Wound and followed them as they continued on with their new projects, Sebadoh (Lou Barlow) and the Outpatiants (Scott Helland) and of course Charlie Nakajima.

I later played with J in a band called "Gobblehoof" led by singer Charlie Nakajima (singer in Deep Wound). I should mention also the songwriter and guitar player for Gobblehoof , Tim Aaron and bass player extraordinaire, Kurt Fedora. J also did a drop in drum track on my first project after Gobblehoof (Dieselmeat). He was just coming off tour and pulled up in a semi outside the studio I was recording at (Slaughter House - Hadley, Mass). He set up his green Gretsch drums and we ran through the song once. It wasn't an easy song but he nailed it in one take.

So that's just a little history of this album and my connection to the players involved. I've had this album with me ever since. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. If you have any questions, feel free to write and ask.

Oh yeah, the album has the original fold out lyric sheet with liner notes etc. it also has some directions to the house in south Amherst my mother had just moved into written on the back in pen. They are part of the albums history.
