Description

This is a very rare Elvis demo record of “Devil In Disguise” / “Please Don’t Drag That String Around”, and was pressed in mid 1963 by Decca Records on behalf of RCA Victor Records. It was recorded in May 1963 and  got Elvis back at No.1 in the middle of the Merseybeat frenzy during July 1963.

 

The label shows the correct studio recording matrix numbers PPKM 0292 and 0291 together with the RCA 1337 UK catalogue number and the US catalogue number 47-8188. Approximately 100 copies were pressed and sent out to Radio Luxembourg / BBC Radio disc jockeys and record reviewers for NME and Record Mirror. Decca have stamped the running time on both sides by way of a 3 digit number the times on both sides of the label.  The vinyl/sound is really excellent for a disc which is nearly 45 years old. This title is not regularly seen and is a “must have” collector’s item especially if you collect Elvis demos.
