Description

This is a really rare double sided demo record “Wear My Ring Around Your Neck” / “Doncha Think It's Time”pressed in 1958 by Decca Records on behalf of RCA Records. It was pressed as a "tri-centre" and was printed with a bright green label. The label shows the studio recording matrix number J2WB 0181 as opposed to the RCA catalogue number. The “b” side “Doncha Think It's Time” has the matrix number J2WB 0179. Historical Info: Both songs were recorded on 1st Feb 1958. It took Elvis 22 takes of the "A" side before he was happy, but the "B" side took a staggering 48 takes before they gave up. Eventually, the released version here was spliced from Takes 40, 47 and 48. Approximately 100 copies were pressed and sent out to Radio Luxembourg / BBC Radio disc jockeys and the DJ has written "mid" for mid-tempo on the run out grooves of the "A" side in wax, and "slow" on the "B" side. The vinyl/sound quality is really excellent  considering it is over 48 years old. A fantastic collector’s item from the late 50's.
