Description

Rare vinyl pressing of Square Dance by Food And Shelter on Resistance Records from 1984. Below are good descriptions and links to hear a few songs. The really odd thing here is that this l.p. was released inside of a tin cover. I don't have the original inserts but I do have copies of them which I'll include. The cover has 2 bent corners. It's just the very tip that's bent. Pliers will straighten that out. There is light rust on the tin. I think it's naval jelly that removes light rust such as this. There is some tape residue along what would be the jacket opening. The tin is very clean along the opening where most of the tape fell off. A side of the l.p. is VG+. B side of the l.p. is VG(+) which is just between VG & VG+. One song has a couple of very thin, short marks that can be felt with the finger. I did hear some tics in quiet spots while playing the l.p. When the music got going it seemed to hide any tics. That is if there were any.

Early 80s minimal synth/pop/tape collage group from LA

Food and Shelter (Synth/minimal electro) LP mega RARE

Totally unknown and underrated synth punk (from a very wide view)band. Food and Shelter's sole album "Square Dance," released in 1984 on Resistance Records (Marina Del Rey)  Featuring  members Russell Jessum, Debbie Spinelli (who also played with 17 Pygmies and Cindy Lee Berryhill) and Fey Ruza.

Instruments used include vibes, piccolo, clarinet, horns, xylophone, marimba, and tin whistle. Overall, a great synth punk meets minimal electronics meets Residents era squeezed popish experimentation here. Very strong are the influences of the pop-ish side of LAFMS scene, early Tuxedomoon,17 Pygmies, but also Screamers ,etc. ( mutant-sounds )

Usually records do come in  a cardboard sleeve, but THIS LP did come in a metal (tin) sleeve ! incl. a small eight page booklet and an insert about tin included

Released : Resistance Records   Catalog#: RR 1917

( I ship on Saturdays. If you pay me after 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday, your l.p. will not be shipped until the next Saturday.)

Leave me feedback and I will return the courtesy. Delivery confirmation is a must and is worked into the cost of shipping. I accept Paypal only. Gold, precious stones and your first born can be negotiated. If paying by Paypal, payment is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements are made. Insurance will be provided upon request and is to be paid for by the customer. My overseas customers are very important to me and have given me a lot of support. However, I cannot be responsible for uninsured packages. I do pack well and in a professional manner with standard record mailers. I also place a cardboard support inside the mailer for protection and to help prevent any bending. Records are removed from their covers and both are placed in a protective, clear plastic outer sleeve. It's a tried and true method that has never been improved upon. I do offer refunds if the item you won is not as described. I ship every Saturday.
