Description

This is a beautiful copy of this hard to find, very desirable SAVOY album, "THE JAZZ MESSAGE", featuring DONALD BYRD,Trumpet, HANK MOBLEY, Tenor Sax, JOHN LaPORTA, Alto Sax, HORACE SILVER and RONNIE BALL, Piano, DOUG WATKINS and WENDELL MARSHALL, Bass, and KENNY CLARKE, Drums. This is BRILLIANTLY PERFORMED, hard swinging mid 50s JAZZ at its best!

This LP was released in the mid 50's, and this is an ORIGINAL DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE PRESSING. It features the well known BLOOD RED and SILVER SAVOY label. As most savvy collectors know, SAVOY records was a New York Based label in the 40s thru the 60s, and released some of the greatest JAZZ RECORDS in history. They were produced by Ozzie Cadena, and most were recorded by RUDY VAN GELDER, so they sound FANTASTIC. I believe SAVOY is a tremendously under-appreciated label. These LPs are priced way below their real value, and I believe this will change. These LPS will only appreciate in value as time goes on!
Back to this LP: The LP has the Rudy Van Gelder RVG initials HAND ETCHED in the run out groove. The labels are clean, with some spindle marks. This LP is conservatively rated VG++, with very very few light, insignificant marks that do no effect the sound. The LP itself is the thick, heavy vinyl associated with these mid 50s pressings. I have played this LP, and it plays beautifully, with almost no back round noise. The sound is beautiful...that classic, gorgeous, rich RUDY VAN GELDER sound, but of course, there might be an occasional pop or click. This is a 60 year old record, and its not absolutely flawless.  Its all about the music, and this LP plays great! Ive been advised by a friend who is a very experienced seller to be very conservative on my ratings, as Im an avid collector, but a relatively new "seller". The classic heavy LAMINATED cardboard cover is in VG+condition, with solid spine, and solid top and bottom seams. There is slight soiling on the back cover (see pics), and the previous owners name at top. This LP is a sample copy, and SAMPLE COPY is stamped several time on the back cover (see pics). There is a tiny split on top seam at opening(about 1 inch). There is slight peeling of the laminate at the right side, near opening of the jacket. The LP cover has moderate shelf wear for an album that is close to 60 years old. The classic cover with its distinctive graphics, and photo are sharp and clear.

I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.

All LPs will be carefully packed in strong, proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL so proper tracking is available. Media Rate for domestic shipments is available, but really not recommended. For overseas buyers, ( Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc)  we recommend PRIORITY MAIL, EXPRESS MAIL, or REGISTERED MAIL for proper tracking. We keep very close watch on all shipments through United States Post Office and Customs. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. Good Luck to all bidders!
