This is one of the true LPs in jazz history that qualify as a HOLY GRAIL COLLECTABLE: up for auction, a really clean, lovely copy of this mega scarce, very desirable PRESTIGE album, CURTIS FULLER "NEW TROMBONE", featuring CURTIS FULLER, TROMBONE, SONNY "RED" KYNER, ALTO SAX, HANK JONES, PIANO, DOUG WATKINS, BASS, and LOUIS HAYES, DRUMS. This is BRILLIANTLY PERFORMED, hard swinging early 50's JAZZ at its best!

This LP was released in the mid 50's, and this is an ORIGINAL pressing. It features the well known BLACK AND YELLOW PRESTIGE label. It features the true first PRESTIGE ADDRESS, 446.W. 50th, NYC. This LP is a DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE pressing, so this is very likely the FIRST PRESSING.  For those collectors in the know, PRESTIGE RECORDS is a NEW YORK based label comparable to BLUE NOTE as far as the quality of the music, and hiring now LEGENDARY NEW YORK musicians of the 50s. Additionally, many of the PRESTIGE LPs from this era were produced at RUDY VAN GELDER's studio, as was this recording, so it truly sounds very similar to the BLUE NOTE sound. The run out groove has the Rudy Van Gelder stamp. It also has the matrix PR LP 7107 A(and B) hand etched in the run out grooves. The labels are clean, with very slight spindle marks.  The previous owner's name is stamped on both labels (see pics). The LP itself is the thick, heavy vinyl associated with these mid 50s pressings. This LP is in very conservatively rated VG++ (VERY GOOD PLUS) condition, with clean, bright playing surfaces. There are only a few light marks that do not adversely effect the sound. I listened to this LP, and there is barely a hint of back round noise. The sound is beautiful...that classic, gorgeous, rich RUDY VAN GELDER sound, but of course, there will be an occasional pop or click. This is a 60 year old record, and its not absolutely flawless.  Its all about the music, and this LP plays great! Ive been advised by a friend who is a very experienced seller to be very conservative on my ratings, as Im an avid collector, but a relatively new "seller". The classic LAMINATED heavy cardboard cover is in VG condition, with solid spine, solid top seam (with separation about 4 inches from opening, I have left this untouched for the new owner to repair as he or she sees fit) and solid bottom seams (same thing, separation about 2 inches from opening), There is the previous owners name stamped, at top left of back cover (see pic). The LP cover has light peeling of the slick at top of back cover (easily repairable) also moderate shelf and ring wear for an album that is close to 60 years old (see pics). The cover is very presentable.  The classic cover with its distinctive graphics, and ED EDWARDS photo, are sharp and clear. 

I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have. 

All LPs will be carefully packed in strong, proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL so proper tracking is available. Media Rate for domestic shipments is available, but really not recommended. For overseas buyers, ( Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc)  we recommend PRIORITY MAIL, EXPRESS MAIL, or REGISTERED MAIL for proper tracking. We keep very close watch on all shipments through United States Post Office and Customs. Shipping costs are always based on your location.
