Description

Jerry Lee Lewis 45 rpm in VG+ Condition.  Original Sleeve. The Paper Sleeve shows wear.  A little wrinkled and a small tear on the front left side.

March 8, 1958.  Dick Clark announced that viewers could receive in the mail an "autographed" 45 RPM single of Jerry Lee Lewis's latest hit Breathless by sending in five Beechnut Gum wrappers and fifty cents for shipping and handling. 48,000 requests were received.

Jerry Lee Lewis, "Breathless" & "Down The Line", released on Sun 288.  Back in '58 Jud Phillips, in charge of promotion at Sun, had a problem. Sales of "Breathless" - Jerry Lee's latest record were slow. Jud did a deal with Dick Clark who had the "Bandstand" show on TV. One of the sponsors was Beechnut Chewing Gum and Jud fixed up a special promotion where the kids sent in gum wrappers and got a specially "autographed" version of the disc sent to them direct from Sun at Memphis. The autograph was done with a rubber stamp and green ink.
