Description
Jimi Hendrix Axis Bold As Love, Japanese Version, 1968. This album is a collector's item due to the unique cover photo found only on the Japanese pressing ... a photo of a relaxed Jimi with a coke bottle by his feet. I was in high school, living in Tokyo when I purchased this album new at a Tokyo music store. Though I was in high school I took reasonably good care of my records. I never left my records sitting outside of their jackets, but this record did see quite a bit of playing time (Technics direct drive turntable at the time). Jacket is labeled SMP 1398, record label is labeled SLPM 1398 and vinyl runout etching is SLPM 1398. I am now liquidating my collection. After many years of sitting in my collection, I pulled this record and listened to it. Yes, there are rice crispies on the lead ins and pops here and there but no skips and overall an enjoyable experience. The album is ever so slightly warped, does not affect play. The sound quality is excellent, consistent with Japanese pressings. That said, this album has more value as an addition to a Hendrix collection than as a primary listening disc. I have decided to put this record up for auction and see what happens.
The sleeve is split across the top and has poster paint stains on the back and on Jimi’s knee (see photos). The inner lyrics sleeve is in good condition. This is an album to be added to a collection, rarely played - listening should be done on a reissue with the traditional cover.
Shipping will be via media mail so please give 6-10 days delivery time. I will keep you informed as to when this album is delivered to the PO, but with media mail tracking may not show up for two days. It will be packaged in a high quality mailer with stiffeners. The record will be removed from the jacket to prevent edge wear during shipping.
