RARE JUBILEE 16" RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISC ART TATUM BIG JOE TURNER RED ALLEN

This is a very rare 16 inch radio transcription issued by The Armed Forces Radio Service featuring two partial radio programs from the series "Jubilee".  This 16 inch, vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm disc features Part 1 of "Jubilee" radio program #17 and Part 1 of "Jubilee" radio program #18.  This disc contains part 1 of each radio program, the first approximately 15 minutes of each 30 minute radio program - so to be clear, this disc does not contain a complete radio program.

This is a very rare disc and I could not find any reference to any surviving examples of these portions of these radio programs

"Jubilee" radio program #17 part 1 of 2 with Henry “Red” Allen & His Orchestra, Joe Turner, Art Tatum Trio.  Songs include:

1. unidentified instrumental by Henry “Red” Allen & His Orchestra featuring J. C. Higginbotham

2. “It’s All Right Baby” vocal Joe Turner with unidentified orchestra

3. “I Know That You Know” Art Tatum Trio (Art Tatum -  piano, Tiny Grimes – guitar, Slam Stewart – bass)

4. unidentified song by Henry “Red” Allen & His Orchestra.  Identified personnel include Henry “Red” Allen, J. C. Higginbotham, Paul Barbarin, Don Stovall, Benny Moten, General Morgan? .    Song has vocal, presumably by Allen, with lyrics such as “When I Was Down In Tennessee Sitting On My Pappy’s Knee”

Jubilee radio program #18 part 1 of 2 with Noble Sissle & His Orchestra, Ada Brown, Eddie Beal Trio, Bob Parrish.  Songs include:

1. “Out The Window” Noble Sissle & His Orchestra

2. “Georgia” vocal Ada Brown with unidentified orchestra

3. “Brazil” Eddie Beal Trio with some miscellaneous vocal presumably by someone in the trio

4. “I’m Falling For You” vocal Bob Parrish with unidentified orchestra

5. “I’m Just Wild About Harry / Bandana Days” Noble Sissle & His Orchestra with vocal by Noble Sissle.  Songs are introduced by Noble Sissle as these are his compositions

Host for both programs is Ernie “Bubbles” Whitman

Disc is in very good condition with some surface scratches that are visible in the photos.  I took a few different photos to give as much detail as possible.   This disc sounds better than it looks, plays with no skips and very good+ sound, not quite Excellent- sound due to the clicks and pops, however the overall sound is quite good as the disc came from a collection which sat untouched for decades, so I suspect this disc has been spared the groove damage from improper playing techniques over the years

Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables.   I will make a CD dub of the disc for the buyer only
