"ARROWHEAD HOTEL OPENING" RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISC RECORDED BY CBS. APPROXIMATELY 12 MINUTES ON THIS 16 INCH, BLACK LAQUER, ONE SIDED, 33 1/3 RPM DISC. THIS DISC WAS RECORDED BY CBS ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
This disc contains the last 12 minutes of a broadcast to celebrate the opening of The Arrowhead Springs Hotel in San Bernardino, CA on December 16, 1939. The complete program was most likely 30 minutes
The disc begins with Rudy Vallee being introduced by Al Jolson, then Vallee' introduces his protégé, "Sylvia" who sings "Alleluia" by Mozart
Next, Rudy Vallee sings "I Didn't Know What Time It Was"
Rudy Vallee then introduces "little Judy Garland" who, after being persuaded not to go have desert, sings an outstanding version of "Comes Love"
The disc is in very good condition with good to very good sound. The disc starts out quite noisy with good sound and improves to good to very good sound for Judy Garland's number
This is most likely the only original radio transcription disc of this broadcast
