This classic James Brown album was recorded live by King records at the Royal Theater in Baltimore, Maryland on November 19, 1963 using state of the art equipment-  Ampex 350-2 tape machines (state-of-the-art for 1963), ten microphones and a specially built recording control panel. You've got to hear this fantastic vintage James Brown sound that will have you dancing and screaming before you know it.

 This album is the RARE PROMO LP.

The album cover is in near mint condition. There is very slight wear on the corners and the color graphics are as intense as when newly issued. The two interior leaves of the album are filled with beautiful B&W photos of JB,  "The Famous Flames",  JB's newest discoveries Tammy Montgomery and Yvonne Fair along with a bio of JB. The back cover has a magnificent half-page, color photo of JB and his signature  ("Yours truly, James Brown", signed in the plate). The album is in its original, plain, white,sleeve and it has the  tell-tale, chalk-white, promo label as well as promo record gaps between songs, necessary for radio station play. The center section of each side of the album is engraved with the identifying record markings, "DJK-883-A" and "DJK-883-B".

This album is the property of my good friend, George A., who worked for King records. He was hired in 1961, personally by Syd Nathan, the founder of King records, as a record salesman and radio station promoter for King records.  This album was his promo copy that he would only play, rarely, for those radio station managers who were unfamiliar with the growing legend and sound of James Brown. It is not his sales copy that he would frequently have to play for reluctant record store managers.  It is his personal promo copy that he recently came across when he had to unpack after a move. The album has a few, very, light scratches otherwise it plays as it did when George first acquired it some 40+ years ago.This superb, live promo, mono album, is in virtually perfect condition, and it is by the amazing "Godfather Of Soul",  James Brown.

Ebay has sold many copies of the regular album  but rarely does the promo recording come up for sale; especially in this condition which is near mint - mint condition. The last time a similar, promo copy became available was in March 2001 at a non-eEbay auction run by "Good Rockin Tonight" *  (see pic below for the auction's result) - the premier internet site for collectors of records.  That was  4 1/2 years ago;  just one year after the stock market took a historic dive. Even then, however, it sold for $805.

George and I feel that this album is the superior album of the two. In spite of it, George has decided to auction it with NO RESERVE, a starting price of only $49.99 and if you absolutely must have it, you can BUY IT NOW for only $299.99. George is joining the ranks of the retired.
