Description
Up for auction is the mega rare Blue Note 10inch LP 5056, Jutta Hipp Quintet's "New Faces, New Sounds from Germany," released in 1954. The quintet is Hipp on piano, Emil Mangelsdorff on alto, Joki Freund on tenor, Hans Dresse on bass, and Karl Sanner on drums. This is an original Lexington Ave NYC Blue Note, ten inch LP, deep groove, has the "ear" etched in the dead wax on both sides. Ex-radio DJ copy of this album, perhaps only played once.
Sleeve: NM-, with a small piece of tape reside visible in the upper left corner of the black front, and some minor wear on the bottom seam. The cover picture of Jutta herself is wonderful, no ringwear, no discoloration, and the back in wholly unmarked.
Record: EX, with some very minor scuffing on the first tracks of both sides, and one tiny scratch on the third track of the first side.
I am a university professor of music here in the US who inherited this and other records (Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse!, Columbia, Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc.) from a collector and former radio DJ a few years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.
Thanks for looking.
