Description

Listed is a rare FIRST PRESSING copy of one of the FIRST 45 rpm records ever produced. From the blues and rhythm style Jesse Stone on Cerise colored vinyl in NM condition showing 1 very very small slight sleeve scuff that is barely noticeable and does not affect play. The label shows some wear which is clearly pictured. There is no sleeve.
Truly a rare piece of record history.

From yahoo group rockinrecords:
"In February 1949, RCA mixed a little of everything in with the very
first batch of large-hole 45s shipped to record stores. They arrived in
a custom envelope labeled: “This Is Your Preview of the New RCA Victor
45 R.P.M. RECORD LINE!”

Inside are seven singles, each of which is made using a different color
plastic — each color representing seven different musical styles.

Children's Entertainment...(Yellow) --- 47-0000
Popular...(Black) --- 47-2715 (first record # in this series)
Country and Western...(Green) --- 48-0001
Classical...(Red Seal) --- 49-0100
Blues and Rhythm...(Cerise or cherry red)--- 50-0000
International...(Sky blue) --- 51-0000
Popular Classical...(Midnight blue) --- 52-0000
53-series ?

As the music industry's very first 45s, the preview envelope suggests:
“Use these seven records as samples between now and March 31st [1949],
and for use with the forthcoming window and counter displays.”
