Description
No Beatles collection is complete without this Weird, but Very Rare Original Apple (Tetragrammaton) Records Stereo "Two Virgins" LP. Released 6 January 1969. Spizer version APP 5001.MR1 and was pressed by Monarch Record company. A very nice copy of this LP; difficult and rare to find in this condition.
This copy is visually graded at VG+ to EX for the cover and VG to VG+ (record) using the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. A very nice copy for any Beatles collector.
Record -
This LP is in very nice shape.. side 2 has a few very minor marks as if someone had played a 45 on top of this LP and has a few minor hairline scratches. Plays nicely though completely; no skips or any other audio issues. Side 2 is cleaner looking visually. The Monarch Records logo (MR in a circle) exists in the runout on both sides proving this to be an authentic copy (Capitol Records was never associated with this LP, so it was only pressed by Monarch Records and Bestway Records for Tetragrammaton Records). Labels are the authentic glossy Apple labels with dark green background; the counterfeit records had labels with a dull purple-ish background. Runout has (side 1) T-5001-1 w/ ? 12796 and (side 2) T-5001-2 ?12796-x.
Cover - Very nice cover with slight partial ring wear (in the form slight creasing, not loss of color), a small amount of light staining and slight creasing, but the seams and spine are fully intact with no tape, writing, mold, etc.
The brown paper wrapper that this LP was sold with was torn at some point on the rear near the bottom and was retaped by a prior owner. The cover itself is not torn here, only the outer brown paper wrapper. (retaping may be necessary if so inclined). A partial tear along the top. The white "dot" sticker that was used to originally seal the opening is still attached to the brown wrapper.
Album will be shipped in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale.
