(This week, I'm offering three RARE LABELS. They must be rare, as I've never seen them in fifty years of collecting!)
RARE LABEL: "MELOTO" record, 1926
No, campers, NOT "Melotone," but "MELOTO," an utterly obscure British make, unseen by me until this one turned up last week. (Technically, "Meloto" was behind the times, still recording acoustically in 1926.)
On this, the CONTINENTAL DANCE ORCHESTRA acquits themselves nicely on these two peppy numbers: "THAT'S ALL THERE IS" and "VALENCIA."
"All There Is" is lively enough, and keeps on threatening to turn to jazz, though it never quite achieves liftoff.
"Valencia" of course, was the world's universal ear-worm and headache for most of 1926. The first of the "Spanish One Steps," this number was played on every stage and on every radio station and on every record label known to man or woman!! Notice the royalty stamp on this side - instead of a publisher, it names the composer "PADILLA." Good work, José! He must have laughed all the way to the bank. HOW come there wasn't a "revenge" song called, "I'd Like To Find The Guy Who Wrote 'Valencia"???
Original 1926 "Meloto" Record is in clean E- condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
