Description
Up for bid is a rare Rockabilly record by Ralph Pruitt. It is on the LARK label and I think it dates back to the late 50's. It is a good filler record for one's collection, but it is not for one's listening enjoyment. Side one has the rockabilly HEY MR PORTER on it and the flipside has the slow ballad THIS HEART WITHIN ME. It looks like they were trying to copy the success that Elvis had on some of his records by recording a slow song and a fast song on the same record. HEY MR PORTER is a song that reminds me of the earlier Johnny Cash songs. It is all scratched up with the HEY MR PORTER side being in the best shape. It does play all the way through on both sides without skipping. It does have background crackle and pop on both sides. The HEY MR PORTER side has some wear around the hole and has a spot that looked like some tape was removed on it. This record is hard to find on this label.
