Description:

This record is being relisted. The original buyer did not refuse to pay it and did not contest its condition. Only he had unfortunate financial problems and preferred buying other less expensive records. Consequently I am pleased to relist this record.

This is the most sought after symphonic record right now and a definite collectors item. Some record dealers happen to show it in their list of very hardly seen records, but this is extremely rare. Back in 2000, EX+ copies sold between $6000 and $7000.

NO RESERVE !

For the history: Urania originally planned to release this record without license. This first version showed the name of Furtwangler. Furtwangler refused that the record be released and stopped Urania from selling them (actually, extremely few specimens were sold). Later, Furtwangler's wife still refused that the record be released, but Furtwangler accepted after removing both his name and the Orchestra on the sleeve and labels. The record was released in very limited amount (1000 copies would be a maximum) and copies were numbered.

This edition was released in very limited amounts in 1955.
This specimen is #140.

After cleaning the record with the VPI machine, I have fully auditioned it using an EMT turntable and audiophile equipment (thanks to Analog Collector for these services).

The record is in VG+ condition. Even in VG+ this record is still a great find and a unique opportunity because it is so rare. Due to its age it has some tiny surface marks, and it plays well with small surface sound. Please keep in mind that all copies of this record will have the same background noise due to the nature of the vinyl and recording equipment used.

With a stereo cartridge, it will play VG+. With a true mono cartridge it will sound much better (EX- to EX) with not even half the surface noise, and even better with a CLEMENT mono cartridge.

On both sides, with a stereo cartridge, the record plays with some very small tics at the begining but as far as it plays the tics reduce. A mono cartridge, as I said, will give MUCH better sound with not even half the tics you can hear with a stereo cartridge.

With a stereo cartridge, two grooves will jump on side 2, however some mono cartridges won't jump so, as I said already, I strongly recommend playing the record with a mono cartridge. You may add more weight to your stereo cartridge, in which case it may not jump.

The original paper inner sleeve is there but I will put the record in a new plastic inner sleeve. Of course the old paper sleeve will be included.

The sleeve is in excellent condition.


This is a rare collectible record, do not let it pass.
eBay's search engine won't find any copy recently sold.

M: MINT. Never listened. Factory sealed, or never sealed.
M-: Near Mint. Highest grade for used records. Record has NO surface marks.
EX+: Very few light marks not affecting play.
EX: Some surface marks generally not affecting play.
EX- : Some light surface marks, few tics will sound.
VG: Tics from several or many surface marks and/or surface noise.
G: Record is listenable but lots of surface marks will sound.
B: Very bad condition, only sold as a collection filler due to extreme rarity.

M: NEUF. Jamais écouté. Scellé d'usine, ou jamais scellé.
M-: Quasi Neuf. Meilleur état possible pour disques écoutés. Pas de marques de surface.
EX+: Très peu de marques de surface qui sont inaudibles.
EX: Plusieurs marques de surfaces qui sont généralement inaudibles.
EX- : Plusieurs marques de surface, certaines font des tics.
VG: Plusieurs marques de surface audibles, et/ou bruit de surface.
G: Disque écoutable mais beaucoups de bruits de traces de surface et/ou bruit de surface.
B: Mauvais état, uniquement vendu pour completer une collection pour la rareté excessive.

Do not use eBay check-out.

Payment must be received maximum 14 days after you know the total including shipping. Unless agreed before end of auction, I will not accept slow payments due to holidays or similar reasons. Too many people have been using them while internet is widely accessible nowadays.

PAYMENTS IN CASH CAN BE MADE EITHER IN USD OR EURO AT YOUR CHOICE.

ANY OTHER SORT OF PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED IN EURO.

Payment methods:

• We accept PayPal ONLY if you accept to pay an extra 5% of the total amount (bid + shipping) due to the PayPal and bank transfer fees. If you forget to pay the 5%, we will have to hold your item(s) until you pay the balance.

• I do not accept BidPay and other online payment services (except bank-to-bank transfers, see below).

• International Money Orders (Postal, Western Union, etc). We will tell you the amount that we must receive in EURO. You may pay the IMO in your local currency but at the end we MUST receive the amount given in EURO with a +/- 1 euro error allowed.

• Cash either in USD or EURO. If in EURO it must be raised to the next 5 euros (this is still cheaper than a money order). Cash is sent at your own risks.

• For payments over €200 I will take travellers cheques in EURO currency ONLY.

• Wire transfers (bank to bank) are accepted with the same terms than Money Orders (see above), however if you are outside of the European Union you must add 16 euro for the bank charges.

• French buyers can pay by check (held until clears).

SHIPPING:

Buyer pays all shipping costs. International bidders are more than welcome but no complaint against expensive shipping costs will be accepted.

Records are shipped in special record boxes which are charged $2 or 1.50 euro. These can contain up to 3 LPs depending on their thickness.

I can ship normal (4-10 days) or economy (up to 3 weeks).
Amounts of over 60 euro can only be insured with the ChronoPost service (more expensive), though they might be eligible for customs taxes.

I pack my items very well, however, I cannot be held responsible for items lost, stolen or damaged. Such problems can only be resolved with the posts.

BIDDING / FEEDBACK:

Some people enjoy creating new accounts to ruin auctions or shill their auctions. We need not accept bids from such accounts. Therefore, we will not accept bids from people with less than 10 positive feedbacks or recent or excessive negative feedbacks. We reserve the right to cancel bids from accounts with no recent activity.

DO NOT BID AT THE LAST SECOND: you won't know who is going to bid the same way, and this won't give you another chance to win the auction.

I reserve the right to block users with suspisious bid cancellations and also reserve the right to report such activity to eBay.

I will not end this auction early, and will not accept external offers.

Positive feedback will be left to any serious buyer who respects our rules or make arrangements with us prior to bidding.

Feedback will be given AFTER receiving yours. I'm sorry for doing this, but while I always posted my feedbacks too many people forgot to post theirs.

Negative feedback will be left to non-paying bidders. Unless agreed prior to bidding we will eventually post negative feedbacks to late payments.
