PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! SCARCE and SOUGHT AFTER ....Original 1971 first pressing on the small STORMY FOREST label ...
Kathy Smith was part of the California 60s hippie scene. She's supposed to have coined the phrase "love generation." She appeared at Englands famous ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL in 1970 and was well received...
Kathy recorded only two highly collectible and "wanted" albums ...This is her 1971 LP titled #2 is an interesting listen, and the album features pretty interesting backing personnel to Kathy's upfront vocals & guitar: Colin Walcott (only later he was going to focus much more on his sitar playing to become a great jazz fusion solo artist; he was part of the group Oregon around the time), Tony Levin, Jan Hammer, Artie Traum, flutist Jeremy Steig, and Jim Fielder were among the players who appeared on either or both albums. The production (led by Mark Roth, engineered by Val Valentin) contains beautiful arrangements and are simply perfect. There is a certain hippie link factor involved in the songwriting, (on her second album she’s dressed up on a live occasion as a native Indian, not sure with which associations), but she sings with convincing power sounding off and on sad and beautiful, like a gentle soul musing her songs, with the best attention and arrangements she could imagine to receive, leaving just a handful guitar-with-voice tracks more alone.
Both Kathy Smith 1970 & 1971 albums are quite rare - the Stormy Forest label didn’t last long at all and was closed down pretty quickly.
