Description
While cleaning up and getting rid of stuff, I found two cool pieces of what use to be a great Motown music collection. This is one of them. This is an early acetate from the Motown Record Company promoting the 1963 "Battle of the Stars" at the Greystone Ballroom. This was a promo show Motown would do to introduce artists by featuring their star roster. This particular "battle" was between Little Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. Marvin once talked about this show. He said it was impossible to be put against a little kid. (stevie was only 12 at the time). People actually booed him for "battleing a small blind kid. HAHAHA. The voices in the commercial are CLEARLY motown founder Berry Gordy and Supreme legend Diana Ross although they do not introduce themselves. Its 55 seconds long. Very cool. The disc is worn and in fair shape. It still plays on my player but has that hisses and pops. Still, very, very cool and super rare. Sorry, no sample clips. What would be the point, eh?
