Description

Welcome to TLF Records! You are bidding on a very rare and highly collectible vinyl LP copy of

MUDDY WATERS at NEWPORT 1960 Chess LP 1449 Record is STILL SEALED (SS). Jacket/cover graded NM.
Up for auction is a extremely rare recording of Muddy Waters at Newport 1960 (Chess LP 1449), still sealed in the original shrink wrap (complete with original retail price of $2.99). Presumed first stereo edition. Interestingly, there are quite a few different versions of this record; because of labeling on the cover (as seen in the photos it says STEREO STEREO STEREO across the top, but then also says "ELECTRICALLY ALTERED TO SIMULATE STEREO") it could be the one release that was done in 1962, because that was changed on later releases of this title. Obviously the other wild card being that this one is still sealed which makes it rare no matter the version.
The first line of the AllMusic review of Muddy Waters at Newport 1960 states "For many back in the early '60s, this was their first exposure to live recorded blues, and it's still pretty damn impressive some 50-plus years down the line." Think about that for a minute. This amazing American artifact is a must-have for any serious blues/vinyl collector.Would make an amazing gift for the Muddy Waters fan in your life, even if it's you! The original cover rated Near Mint due to promotional "cut-out" notch (as seen in the photos).
This is an extremely rare album. Sure, elsewhere on eBay you will find maybe 20 other copies of Muddy Waters at Newport 1960, with varying release dates, and a couple might actually be still sealed, or they might be Mono (for $200+) But none of them has this black & white cover. (NOTE: we marked condition as "Used" because the "New" ones are typically the common/later reissues; but this one is STILL SEALED and therefore New...)
Records are stored and shipped in Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab original master sleeves. This and every record we sell is shipped in a 4 mil Poly clear outer sleeve.
SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. is available via Media Mail or Priority, as detailed/calculated below (plus $3 for each additional album) All INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING (anything outside the continental U.S.) is  $19.99 per album (plus $5 for each additional)
We take great care in packaging albums safely and securely and only use proper album-shipping materials.
Please check back often as we will be offering more great collectible records in the weeks, months, and years to come!

While The Music has always been the most important thing, we know that most recordings are available to listen to and/or purchase in sub-standard formats or physical condition so we try to offer only high-quality collectible albums. All records are vintage pressings. We do not sell contemporary reissues/bootlegs.We are committed to passing along some of the most beautiful record albums in the world, so we will always be forthright and detailed in our descriptions and photos.

BUY IT NOW
We select our BuyItNow prices carefully and generously. Our BuyItNow prices are generally 10-20% lower than the same record in similar condition has sold for in the past. If you are interested in this item, we recommend you either place a bid (which will remove the Buy It Now price), or use Buy It Now.

GRADING
There are many reputable record-buying guides and standard and personalized grading systems. Again, we will try to describe each item in detail and not just rely on rigid condition categories. That said, our basic standards for using the popular grading terms are as follows:

SS (Still Sealed)
Still contained in original unopened factory seal. Disc is assumed to be undamaged and mint; obviously this is unknown until the album is actually opened and disc examined. Noticeable flaws on cover will be noted.

M (Mint)
Perfect condition, no flaws, defects or marks indicating handling or playing. We don't take the word “Mint” lightly and will only use this grade on records in truly pristine condition. These are very rare copies that are worth much more than the M-/NM items.

M- / NM (Near Mint, “Mint-minus”)
Has a very minor defect or two that disqualifies it as mint. Vinyl, Labels & Cover are virtually flawless, bright, and shiny. Minor defects can be barely visible scuffs or hairline marks, label may have a small mark or be off center, cover might have a few small dents, or a tiny mark.

VG++
This is a non-standard GoldMine grade, middle grade between M- and VG+. Some visible surface wear, few very minor scratches and scuffs, with minimal impact on the sound quality. Vinyl will still have good luster; labels may have minor imperfections (small labels or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean. Cover has only slight wear.

VG+
Record will have moderate surface wear and may have light record noise at times but still plays nicely. There will be no skips, and audio quality is quite enjoyable, scratches are light and can’t be felt with fingernail. There might be a slight warp that doesn’t affect sound quality. The cover will have some wear but it is still nice to look at, a small seam split might be present. Flaws are quite varied at this grade level, and can include any of them but not very many. In general the vinyl will sound good and the cover will look good.

NOTE: Except under a few circumstances, perhaps for an extremely rare title, we generally will not be selling albums that don't meet the above criteria, so we won't waste time/space describing lower grades such as VG, VG-(minus), or Good.
