Description

OK boys & girls
do you have your
Beatle Mop Tops
on nice and tight?

Because this one is going to
knock your socks off!

I am putting up for auction a rare and near Mint 45 from my collection. This 45 EP is by Vee-Jay Records and although it came out in March of 1964, it looks like it was bought yesterday. The actual name of the album is "Souvenir of Their Visit to America" and features four songs, Misery / Taste of Honey / Ask Me Why / Anna.

I've researched this one and found a few auctions with prices ranging from $45 and up (example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=432&item=3825767255&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) but these were for the same album but in far worse wear.

A little bit of History on this album

Vee Jay noticed how popular EPs were in Britain and decided to release four of the 'Introducing The Beatles' tracks ('Misery', 'Taste Of Honey', 'Ask Me Why', and 'Anna') as an EP, with a special cardboard cover, named 'Souvenir Of Their Visit To America' (VJEP 1-903). EPs weren't a popular format in America and were extremely rare. Initially, the EP was issued in a cardboard sleeve at the unusually high price of $1.29 on 23 March 1964.

The record was quickly reissued in an ordinary paper sleeve at the usual price of a single and Vee Jay claimed that a million copies were sold. This is quite possible, even though the EP didn't register in any of the main charts. The magazines may not have included the EP in their chart figures since EPs weren't generally issued in America. Description of my Beatles 45

This 45 is in near mint condition. I say this only because I am being very picky about what I consider mint. At first I thought this was mint but upon taking a much closer look, I can find a few small flaws.

First, on the back of the cover there is a slight mark under the "B" for Beatles, you may be able to see it on the picture but if you need a closer look, email me.

Also on the back of the cover, there are also two very, very small white dots. The sides have some wear but very minimal.

The other mark is on the front above the f of the word "of." This is a mark that was made during printing and really has no effect on value. I just like to mention everything possible.

The biggest flaw I think is a mark on the cardboard cover that is not a scratch but more of an indent that looks like someone might have pushed their thumbnail down on it too hard. I tried taking a couple of pictures of it but they didn't come out. Email me and I will make every attempt to send you a picture of this flaw and any other thing you may like.

Now for the inside of the cover, we have the record itself. This is pristine and looks like it has never seen a turntable. There are no scratches and I have included pictures turned at an angle so you can see how clean it is from marks. It really is so pristine that it looks like it was made days ago.

The label is the rainbow band with oval Vee-Jay logo. There is no paper sleeve inside because there never was one when the album was new. The cover is hard cardboard not paper. The cover has the bracket VJ logo in blue.

I highly recommend all serious bidders to contact me with any questions they may have, no matter how small. I try in everyway to be accurate but I am human and I appreciate buyers who are informed.
