Description
One of only 25 copies to exist this is a rare chance to bid on a genuine piece of not just jazz but music history. Produced after a misunderstanding betwixt the thickly German accented Alfred Lion and his equally thickly accented not German printer copies of Blue Notes 1 and 2 are the stuff of legend. Sold out of the Commodore record store where Mr Lion worked they have tangibly been touched by the founders of one of the most iconic music labels to grace recording history and on top of these fragile shellac discs sits some of the greatest recordings in music history. It is no wonder there are a few scuffs, scrapes and a needle dink on side two (see video). The wonder is that it has survived intact as well as it has registering at least a V+. The fact that the record has clearly been enjoyed by an original enthusiast (who had probably received it from Alfred for approval) rather than ignored, stored and discovered by a later collector, encourages a greater appreciation for this particular discs authenticity and provenance. It now enters a new chapter of its own distinguished history.
