Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. ADVANCED RELEASE PROMOTIONAL
ORIGINAL 1969 first pressing underground hard-edged rock with memorable melodic edges... the LP has always been hard to find and has been increasingly harder to find in find in recent years
Not to be confused with Keith Relf's well known ARMAGEDDON outfit ...good luck locating a copy of this Texas-to-the-West Coast obscurity as it hardly ever surfaces, especially CLEAN.
Singer/lead guitarist Mark Creamer, rhythm guitarist James Parker, and drummer Johnny Stark had previously been members of the Texas-based The Kitchen Cinq. Following that band's collapse, the trio along with Kitchen Cinq bassist James Dallas Smith headed for Los Angeles. Smith apparently decided to return to Texas in order to get a college degree and was quickly replaced by (pre-Byrds) Skip Battin. The quartet was quickly signed to Jimmy Bowen's newly formed Amos label (Kitchen Cinq manager Tom Thacker and Bowen were longtime friends). As you probably guessed, the move to Southern California and a new label found the band ditching their earlier garage-rock roots in favor of a distinctively tougher, rock-oriented attack. Produced by Tom Thacker, 1969's cleverly titled "Armageddon" marked a major step forward in terms of creativity. Whereas The Kitchen Cinq LP and singles frequently followed prevailing musical trends, original tracks like 'Armageddon Theme', 'Water Lilly' and 'Another Part Of Our Life' offered up a first-rate set of fuzz guitar propelled hard rock, and much of the material contained catchy melodies. The other big difference was found in the vocal performances. Whereas The Kitchen Cinq lacked a distinctive singer, this time out all four members came off as first-rate vocalists. Virtually every one of the ten tracks provides a worthy listen. Highlights include the acid-tinged ballad 'Cave of the Winds' and their "Cream" take on the great 'Tales of Brave Ulysses'. Not a major masterpiece, but easily one of the better albums you may have across in a while. Piece of needless trivia - Finishing the recording sessions Skip Battin dropped out in order to join the Byrds. He was replaced by Robert Ledger (Ledger's face is on the album cover). - Skip Battin -- bass (1969) - Mark Creamer -- vocals, lead guitar (1969) - Robert Ledger -- bass (replaced Skip Battin) (1969)- James Parker -- vocals, rhythm guitar (1969)
- Johnny Stark -- vocals, drums, percussion (1969)
