Description
Hard-to-find LP from John Lyons & The Blue Diamonds titled "Light In The Lowlands" self-released on TNT Productions (BD 5805) in 1979. Solid Dylanesque folk-songs from Pennsylvania that are non-cheerful or perhaps emotionally ambivalent but sung with much conviction and appear to relate to real experiences. Lyrics are quite good and Lyons voice has some Dylan qualities with a raspy road weary tone but less nasal sounding than the almighty Bob. Minimal instrumental backdrop: two acoustic guitars, banjo and occasional bass. 8 total original songs with the last one on Side 2 "West Virginia Coal Mine" suffering from a manufacturing flaw that creates much distortion rendering that one song a useless listening experience.
