Description
The Kinks - S/T LP, Pye NPL18096 1965. By far my personal favourite album from The Kinks with a much more raucous, rockabilly feel throughout the album, with more urgency and hunger in the tracks. This copy visually has light marks and scuffs dotted about yet plays well. The a-side sounds two pops at the end fade of "So Mystifying", one feint pop on "Just Can't Go To Sleep", feint crackle and a couple of pops at the quieter intro of the rockabilly edged "Long Tall Shorty" and a few other light pops dotted about, the last 3 tracks play fine with maybe the odd feint pop, most of any crackle and pops present anywhere is overwhelmed by the visceral energy of the tracks. The b-side also plays well, a light crackle at the start of the blues beat "Cadillac", crackle and pops at the slow to set off drawl of "Bald Headed Woman", two pops on the slower bluesy "I've Been Driving On Bald Mountain", and one pop on the final track "Got Love If You Want it" which breaks out into a raucous assault in the middle and at the end of a blues track. Other than crackle and or pops in between tracks, which is pretty common even on a flawless record, this plays well. And as with most Kinks albums this is produced by the legendary Shel Talmy. Happy to combine postage at cost, usually at no extra expense in the UK.
