This is a rare, new, sealed, unopened Half Speed Mastered/Original Master Recording collectable pressing of Eric Clapton/Slowhand pressed by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab.
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Original Master Recordings are Limited Edition, state-of-the art recordings of spectacular and unparalleled audio quality on vinyl. Hearing one played through your own stereo system can virtually duplicate the experience of being in the recording studio and listening to your favorite recording artists performing their greatest works. They give you all of the pure, natural sound that you've never heard before on vinyl, plus freedom from such annoyances as surface noise and distortion. Original Master Recordings give you the opportunity to experience the full audio potential of vinyl records on your sound system. It is impossible to achieve this incredible quality and realism from ordinary vinyl records. In fact, the only factor Original Master Recordings have in common with standard, mass produced vinyl records is their shape. Original Master Recordings are exclusively transferred from the original stereo master tape that the musicians recorded in the studio (not from a second, third or fourth generation copy of that master tape). Original Master Recordings utilize Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs exclusive half-speed mastering process, mastered with the Ortofon cutting system, to capture every intricate nuance of sound from that master tape. It is a more time consuming process and it is a critical procedure allowing every conceivable trace of high fidelity information to be transferred into the grooves of the Original Master Recording. With quality being the most important consideration for each and every Original Master Recording, the number of pressing were extremely limited, making every existing pressing a highly valued and desired collector’s item. Original Master Recordings were pressed overseas by the Victor Company of Japan (JVC) utilizing an exclusive Super Vinyl far superior to even 100% virgin vinyl for maximum clarity and quietness. If you hold up a pressing of an Original Master Recording to the light, you can actually see through it. A pressing composed of Super Vinyl extends the lifetime of the record up to 5 times that of mass-produced records. Each Original Master Recording is custom packaged to maintain flatness and prevent warping. The album jacket is specially constructed of a heavy duty cardboard. The album itself is inserted into a unique static-free “rice paper” inner sleeve and is additionally protected by a wrap around cardboard stiffener before it is placed into the album jacket. The wrap around protective stiffener artwork may vary from pressing to pressing. The entire package is loosely “bagged” as opposed to tight shrink wrap to avoid warping of the record.
