RARE and LONG OUT OF PRINT! SOFT MACHINE "TRIPLE ECHO" 3-LP Box Set Original 1st United Kingdom pressing, 1977, Harvest Records (SHTW 800). All LPs are housed in a beautiful laminated flip-top box; 8-page glossy pictorial booklet with band chronology. Each LP comes with its own die-cut cardboard inner sleeve.
Sprawling, epic collection of a career-spanning repertoire by an extraordinarily gifted band. This 35-song compilation includes Soft Machine's first single and tracks from all albums up to this date (except the album "Third") plus the previously unreleased septet version of "Esther's Nose Job" and "Moon in June" (with completely reworked "here at the BBC" lyrics) – both re-released in 1990 on The Peel Sessions.
THis band was highly influential to the underground circle of musicians of their era and beyond. Featuring immensely talented musicians such as Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, and Mike Ratledge, the band was inspiration for a young up-and-coming guitarist named Andy Summers, who joined them in 1968, and would later gain international fame as a key member of the new wave group The Police. The band also served as uncredited session musicians on two tracks featured on the first solo album of the founder and former leader of Pink Floyd--Syd Barrett.
From jazz-infused psychedelic rock to experimental rock, and beautiful jazz fusion, this band could do it all.
