Extremely rare set of two 16" metal based acetate discs in excellent condition. Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra in a one hour NBC broadcast from WCOL in Columbus, Ohio on September 14, 1940. Features Frank Sinatra, Connie Haines, the Pied Pipers, Buddy Rich, Joe Bushkin, Don Lodice, Ziggy Elman, Johnny Mince and others. This is a previously unknown and undocumented broadcast with no commercial sponsor. Tommy's Amateur Songwriting contest is one of the features with three new tunes that week and the announcer tells listeners how to enter. At the show's end the announcer talks with Tommy about their appearance that night at the Valley Dale Ballroom. I'm not sure if this show was done from Valley Dale or the WCOL studios.
