Description
Artist: THE WHATNAUTS.
Record label: STANG Records, a div. of ALL PLATINUM Records, Englewood, New Jersey.
LP title: THE WHATNAUTS REACHING FOR THE STARS, ST-1012, released in 1972. This is an original 1st pressing LP...A side matrix ST 1021 GM; B side matrix ST 1022.
Song titles: View close-up of labels.
Jacket grade: NM-...still in shrink wrap...minor bumps on corners...sensational vivid front cover photo! Notice that, unlike the re-issue jackets, there is a 1/4 inch blue line across the top of the front and the back of this jacket.
Label grade: A side: VG+ due to a factory defect in shape of the label; B side: NM-. Too bad about the A side label, but you will be buying this killer LP for the music; not the labels.
Vinyl grade: NM- due to minimal superficial marks.
Sound grade: NM-, but I was so tempted to give this gem a sound grade of NM, because there is only the slightest bit of background noise between tracks...incredible sound!!
Comments: I love this killer LP, but I have a MINT copy so I'm letting another WHATNAUTS fan have a shot at adding this awesome LP to his/her important vinyl collection. I think that it's really cool that Al Goodman of THE MOMENTS gives credit to Michael Watson, Curtis McTeer, and Donald McCoy in the liner notes. These are the same talented artists who formed the mega rare group MACHINE, and I have their first and only LP listed as well. You will love the tracks on this highly collectible LP as the mix of songs truly highlights the musical range and versatility of the talented members of THE WHATNAUTS!
