Description
BEATLEMANIACS! We've purchased a HUGE BEATLES COLLECTION (nearly a THOUSAND items!), and we're still plowing through the pile...so add us to your favorite sellers list, and keep an eye on our buy-it-now bargains and rare auction finds! Here's today's GEAR listing: 1) THE BEATLES MOVIE MEDLEY/FAB FOUR ON FILM (Capitol #5100 PROMO 1st pressing w/PICTURE SLEEVE, 1982);
plus
2) THE BEATLES MOVIE MEDLEY/I'M HAPPY JUST TO DANCE WITH YOU (Capitol #5107 1st pressing with company sleeve, 1982):
Both 45s & the pic sleeve are CLEAN VG+/M-!
The Beatles Movie Medley was issued after Dutch studio act Stars On 45 topped the Hot 100 in 1981 with a Beatles soundalike medley. Capitol Records execs reasoned that if a bunch of Netherlands nobodies could hit #1, why not issue a medley by The Beatles themselves?
But they screwed up the flip side: Capitol didn't own the rights to Fab Four On Film (with The Beatles talking about A Hard Day's Night). They'd already issued the first 45 in our pair (Capitol #5100 PROMO), so they had to recall them and reissue the single as Capitol #5107, with I'm Happy Just To Dance With You on the B-side (the 2nd single of our pair). The Beatles Movie Medley reached #12, so it wasn't a total loss...
Here's the scarce withdrawn Beatles PROMO 45 with its picture sleeve, plus the corrected 45 with Dance on the flipside. Excellent price for your collection or jukebox...
