Description
Hard-to-find self-titled LP from The Charlatans released by Groucho Records in 1979. Italian pressing? Album has 11 studio tracks from 1966 and one live track from 1969. The studio tracks were recorded for Kama Sutra who refused to release them due to drug related content and none of this saw the light of day until 1979. The Charlatans were the first acid rock band...yes, they were the first to take acid before performing live. They moved to San Francisco after being kicked out of Nevada along with their hippie friends arriving just as the West Coast psychedelic scene exploded. Their sound was different than the others, more folk, jug band and country influenced with acid head attitude. Essential!
