RARE antique playable miniature HMV gramophone record 1924 God Save The King

Description

This is a highly collectable old curiosity either for a dolls house collector, a lover of vinyl or gramophones, or of Nipper souvenirs (The famous record label dog).   It was produced in 1924 and the Guinness Book of World Records confirms that it is one of the smallest playable records ever made!
It is an original and rare His Master's Voice (HMV) miniature record with a charming little original printed sleeve and it plays ' God Save The King '.  It was originally made for Queen Mary's Dolls House in 1923 along with a miniature working gramophone that took many months to make and between 65 and 70 skilled craftsmen to make all the components! Limited replicas were then issued by HMV in 1924.  The BBC has one of these rare replicas in its archives, reputedly sent to them by a Royal connection.
These very rare playable miniatures were sold as souvenirs at the 1924 British Empire Exhibition at Wembley at a cost of 6d (2p) each. Printed on the label is " God Save The King, Male Voice Record Manufactured by the Gramophone Co.Ltd. Hayes Middlesex England ".  The recording is by Peter Dawson.  The record is apparently made of shellac, measures 1 5/16 inches diameter and plays at 78rpm.
This amazing little item is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips or scratches on the record and the sleeve is in wonderful condition for its age. The other two I have seen over the years were much more creased or torn and I imagine it is very hard to find one so well preserved considering its age.
Please note that this listing is for the God Save The King record only - the other rare miniature record in the orange sleeve is NOT in the listing (it is listed separately), nor is the coin in the photos which is there for size comparison only - thank you.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this wonderful little miniature today.
