AMERICA'S FIRST BEATLES BOX SET. THE WORLD'S RAREST BEATLES BOX SET.

THIS IS THE CAPITOL 10th ANNIVERSARY 1964-1974 BOX SET

and it can be yours for the highest bid.

I have not seen this rarest of rare box sets offered for sale on eBay over the last three years, and possibly it has never before been offered.

This is the earliest U.S. Beatles LP box set, and is CONSIDERED THE RAREST BOXSET IN THE WORLD!! The set was never offered for sale in any manner to the public and, from what I have been able to learn, was given primarily to Capitol records salesmen.

THIS SPECIFIC SET WAS GIVEN BY A CAPITOL SALESMAN TO THE MANAGER OF A LOCAL DEPARTMENT STORE. The manager then offered the box set as a door prize. The person from whom I purchased the set was the lucky winner! The set consists of the first 17 Capitol-issued Beatles albums.

ALL DISCS in this set were produced at the Winchester, Virginia plant.

ALL DISCS are marked "Mfd by Apple Records, Inc".

ALL COVERS, except "Abbey Road" and "Hey Jude", are CAPITOL COVERS.

"Abbey Road" and "Hey Jude" have Apple covers and discs, most probably because these albums were not issued under the Capitol label until 1976.

All inner sleeves are generic white paper - the previous owner discarded the originals.

Some covers show minimal scuffing, where they had been removed on several occassions from among the set.

All covers have maintained their bright colors with the exception of "The Beatles Story" (cover has slight age fading, and "The Beatles WHITE ALBUM (light age fading).

The Capitol covers were produced in at least the Scranton and Winchester plants. Covers from Scranton were most probably sent to the Winchester plant after Scranton ceased producing Beatles records in 1973.

THE BOX IS OPEN-END AND SHOWS THE FOUR BEATLES IN A PHOTO NEGATIVE STYLE IN GOLD ON A BLACK BACKGROUND. It shows some shelf wear, but DOES NOT have any splits, cracks, tears, rips, etc. I do see a small area of black border, about 1/4-inch, missing INSIDE the edge of the box. For a box that held 17 albums for the past 29 years, it is in very nice condition.

Following are the albums, all visually graded:

(1) Meet the Beatles (ST 2047) - cover VG+ bright / disc VG++ SPECIAL NOTE - BOTH SIDES OF LABEL BEAR MARK.... "MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC".

(2) The Beatles Second Album (ST 2080) cover VG+ bright, has narrow staple marks in upper left corner. Back cover shows light shelf marks. Spine has 1.5-inch separation at base. Disc is VG++ to NM.

(3) Something New (ST 2108) cover VG+ bright. Has "crack" in white border paper at top, has not separated. Disc is as Near to Mint as is possible!!!

(4) The Beatles Story (STBO 2222) cover VG+ . Discs are VG++

(5) Beatles '65 (ST 2228) cover VG+ bright. Disc is NM.

(6) The Early Beatles (ST 2309) cover VG+, bright. Has "crack" in white paper border at top of cover and some wear at bottom. Disc is VG++ to NM!

(7) Beatles VI (ST 2358) cover VG+ bright. Has "crack" in white paper border at top of cover, Disc is VG++ to NM!

(8) Help! (SMAS 2386) cover VG+ bright. Has about 2-inch split at top seam of second-half cover. Disc is VG+ or better.

(9) Rubber Soul (ST 2442) cover VG+ bright. Disc is VG++ to NM!

(10) Yesterday and Today (ST 2553) cover is VG+ bright. Has 1 1/2-inch top seam split. Disc is VG+

(11) Revolver (ST 2576) cover is VG+ bright. Has 1 3/4-inch top seam split. Disc is NM!

(12) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (STMAS 2653) Cover is VG+ bright. Has 1-inch top seam split on second-half cover. Disc is NM. Has cut-out insert.

(13) Magical Mystery Tour (SMAL 2835) cover is VG+ bright. Has 1 1/8-inch top seam split on second-half cover. Disc is NM! Insert booklet is intact, but is loosening at staples.

(14) The Beatles "The White Album" (SWBO 101) Cover has RAISED/EMBOSSED BEATLES, but no sequential number. Cover is VG+, with light age fading. Lower third of sleeve opening on front edge has several small, 3/16-inch or less surface tears that DO NOT go completely through the cover. Lower left corner has light stain. DISCS are VG++ to NM!! Album has the large poster in great condition, no pin marks or tears, and all four photos in great shape.

<(15) Yellow Submarine (SW 153) cover is VG+ bright. Bottom seam shows some wear, but no splitting. Disc is VG+ BOTH SIDES OF LABEL BEAR MARK "MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC".

(16) Abbey Road (SO 383) Cover is VG+, bright, has 1 1/2-inch tape on lower right corner and is bent/crimped on the back at this point. Disc is VG++ to NM! Disc has "Her Majesty", cover does not.

(17) Hey Jude - disc VG+ / cover VG++ to NM. This is the only album with shrinkwrap!
