Description
For sale is a true rarity in the Beatles library: an original 1964 Bolivian press ep entitled Vol. II, on the yellow and black Odeon label, BOD-5029.
This is fresh to the market from the estate of a woman who worked for the US State Department in the 1960s-80s, who acquired it while stationed in Bolivia in the mid 1960s. I found it in the original brown paper bag from the record store she bought it from, "Discolandia," which I am including with the record.
Vinyl rates VG+ (on the Goldmine scale, I do not use "EX," as a grade)... a couple light sleeve marks and a couple very light scattered background clicks. Excellent fidelity. Sleeve rates a solid VG+, with a little staining and ringwear at the back. Front is clean and glossy. Extremely scarce, I've only found one reference to another one of these which is currently unavailable for sale. I have found another slightly more common version of this (just three auction records on Popsike) that has "Odeon," "Vol. II" and "Bod-5029" at different places on the front cover, a different "Odeon" lettering, and "The Beatles" in blue and black on the front cover instead of red and black, as it is here. The other example of one of these I found was in demonstrably worse condition than this example. One of the strangest covers I've ever owned, the pictures of the Beatles appear to be pasted on, while "The Beatles" looks to be screenprinted on.
