THE LACQUERED FRONT COVER STOCK WITH SOME LIGHT RUB WEAR. FRONT TOP LEFT WITH PRIOR PRICE CODE STICKERS. CORNERS WITH ROUGH SPOTS AND OUTER LAYER LOSSES ON POINT. BACK WHITE CARD STOCK WITH LIGHT RUB WEAR AND OVERALL LIGHT AGE DISCOLORATION.

SOME LIGHT SURFACE RUB MARKS AROUND THE SPINDLE HOLE. THE UNUSUALLY PRISTINE VINYL BLANK WITH HIGH LUSTER APPEARS UNPLAYED OTHERWISE; UNDER BRIGHT ANGLED LIGHT THE DEAD WAX WITH SOME LIGHT SURFACE RUB MARKS AND FAINT RUB LINES. I'VE TEST PLAYED THIS LP ON THE VPI TURNTABLE AND PROFESSIONAL SOUND SYSTEM AND THERE WAS SOME LIGHT SURFACE/BACKGROUND NOISE THROUGHOUT. NOT A DISTRACTION, BUT PRESENT AND SEEMINGLY MORE A FUNCTION OF THE PRESSING THAN PREVIOUS PLAYS.

Ray Bryant's first solo piano album is rightfully considered a classic. Bryant, at the time thought of as a young modern traditionalist, has always felt perfectly at home playing the blues. He performs five original and diverse blues on this set along with "Lover Man" and "Rockin' Chair," showing that he really never needed a bassist or a drummer to sound like a complete band. This Prestige album was reissued in the Original Jazz Classics but thus far only as an LP; highly recommended in any case.

AND, LASTLY, PLEASE DO REMEMBER SOUND QUALITY IS AFFECTED BY WHAT THE VINYL IS PLAYED ON! IF YOUR STEREO SYSTEM HAS BEEN CAREFULLY CHOSEN AND ASSEMBLED FOR IT'S AURAL QUALITIES AND YOU PERFORM BASIC MAINTENANCE LIKE CLEANING YOUR VINYL, CLEANING THE NEEDLE AFTER EACH PLAY, AND REPLACING THE CARTRIDGE WHEN NEEDED, YOUR LPS SHOULD SOUND QUITE GOOD.

Anything in the VG category would contain some light and fine surface play lines and or have some other visible signs of ring or hole wear. Rarely do I offer something in the "G" state. If I do, it's usually a rare LP and priced accordingly. Values are assigned according to market availability, rarity and my experience in the business for over 25 years, not a price guide or any other standard.
