Gwenifer Raymond's third full-length, Last Night I Heard The Dog Star Bark, lands on Toronto label We Are Busy Bodies, casting her trademark "Welsh Primitive" sound further into the broad. Now living in Brighton, the former astrophysicist and current AI/game dev pulls from sci-fi pulp, occult folklore, mathematical infinity and late-night wanderings through Brighton flea markets, sculpting a solo guitar album sitting elsewhere between backwoods seance and deep space transmission. Her first record since 2020's Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain, it trades rural South Wales' mossy dread for starward abstraction. Opener 'Banjo Players Of Aleph One' sets the tone, with spectral banjo lines referencing both Gibson hardware and set theory. Somewhere between flamenco rave-up and apocalyptic sermon, 'Jack Parsons Blues' salutes a doomed rocket pioneer, while 'Champion Ivy' lets loose like Lankum gone Appalachian.
