RCA LIVING STEREO SHADED DOG SD ORIG LSC 2449 GOUNOD FAUST BIZET CARMEN 1S/1S A1/A3
Attention! You are looking at one of the rarest RCA Dogs in Existence. Rarely seen in this condition and playback quality, you should not pass up this highly desirable Lp!
Sound Playback from this baby is not to be believed. It is fabulous. A broad, clear soundstage, ear-popping dynamics. Great depth of field. The Carmen is on HP’s List!!!
Cover: Mint-. No disk wear on cover. Color of front and back are like new. Very slight cracking along the spine and almost no chips of white off the top edge of the cover. One small piece of cover missing on the back due to a price tag that was pulled off. About 1/4 inch split on the top and bottom edge near the opening.
Vinyl: This is really a Mint-/Mint- copy of this LP.
Side1: In band 1, there is a hairline scratch that runs into band 2. There are no bubbles. The scratch does not sound. Otherwise, the disk is extremely clean.
Side 2: There is a visible scratch at the very end of band 6 that will tick a few times. It runs into the dead wax. There are a few nail marks in bands 3 and 4 that are very light and not sound.
In sum, this is an outstanding copy of this highly collectible RCA Living Stereo record.
Indianapolis stampers.
Carmen is the side on HP's TAS list.
J.A. Mitchell’s "The Golden Era of RCA Records" called this the "one record to demonstrate the quality of RCA records in the Golden Era….recorded in Covent (not Convent!!) Garden in London and the recording engineer is not identified, but I would guess Wilkinson. The Carmen music has a tremendous dynamic range and definition is excellent throughout the record. However, it is the quiet sections of the music which will delight you with its accurate tone color and stereo ambience."
