RCA LSC 2230, RIMSKY-KORSAKOFF – “Spain” (music by Albeniz, de Falla, and Granados) Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1958) Mohr/Layton. NOTE: This is the 200 gm Analogue Productions reissue – it is NOT the original. This is one of the best and rarest of the RCA living stereo recordings, and it is a landmark recording of Spanish music. Recorded by the legendary Mohr/Layton team, the sound of the orchestra in the hall is very realistic. This copy is very close to perfect – I purchased it myself when it was first released, and have played it only 2 times since then. It is very close to mint and plays almost perfectly. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and EXCEPTIONALLY quiet with only 1 light tic on side 1, and 2 on side 2. There are NO scuff marks. The vinyl grading is NM, and the labels are clean except for a slight defect near the spindle hole that was present when I purchased it (see photos). The gatefold jacket is also mint. In summary, this is a beautiful copy of this wonderful golden-age recording. Feel free to return for a full refund if not completely satisfied.
