I'm 68 - years - old, and up to the point of sitting down to listen to this record to make sure it played well, I had never paid much attention to the speeches of Dr . King . Being a person with a short attention span, which leaves me prone to being unable to sit through anything that lasts longer than 5 minutes, I must say, that was not the case, here ! I listened to both sides all the way through, and I gotta tell ya, I was completely and totally captivated by Dr . King's remarks . At the time, there were less than three dozen non - Caucasians students on campus at Ohio Northern University, so this was hardly a venue at which Dr . King would've ordinarily delivered a speech . He had a friend there by the name of James S. Uly, who happened to be the O N U chaplain at the time, and it was at his request that Dr . King spoke at the School on the morning of January 11, 1968, just 84 days before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4 of that same year . With the town of Ada being just 15 miles from here, I guess that's how I became fortunate enough to have acquired this little piece of history, a fortune I'm willing to turn over to YOU in the event you're lucky enough to win this auction . So, let me just say this ; if you're a caring, patriotic, red - blooded American with an interest in history, as well as in the human condition, itself, you must hear this speech, for it's one of the best, but least known, Dr . King must've ever given ! Since it doesn't say, I have no idea who produced this record, even though it was extremely well done . There's some information on the back of the jacket pertaining to the pictures appearing on it, but nothing that I can see regarding the making of the record, itself .
