 Up for bid is a rare mono LP, "Soul Junction" by The Red Garland Quintet, featuring John Coltrane, Donald Byrd, Arthur Taylor, and George Joyner. This was released by Prestige Records ( PRLP 7181). Interior labels are yellow with the fireworks logo and the Bergenfield address. LP is VG+, with light scuffs and light scratches on either side - plays with some surface noise. HOWEVER - there are several skips on the first track. LP appears clean (has a nice gloss), and there is a light scratch across the affected area but it doesn't seem like it should cause it to skip at all (I can't even feel it with my finger, and I don't see anything else in the affected area that might make it skip). The rest of the LP sounds fine with intermittent light surface noise with no skips. I do not have an audiophile turntable - perhaps a better stylus with a better needle could play through this area. Although I do have a weighted tone arm, and increased weight did not eliminate the skips either.

Matrix info is as follows: a stamped RVG followed by etched PRLP-7181-A / a stamped RVG followed by etched PRLP-7181-B. Interiors labels are clean with a deep groove on either side, with the Bergenfield address on each side. LP retains a nice gloss. Jacket is VG+, with a seam split in the center of the top seam about 4 inches long. All corners show wear. There is very light wear on the spine and bottom seam. Front of the jacket retains a nice gloss. Back of the jacket shows some discoloration, along with air bubbles under the top and bottom of the back paste on artwork (see photos). The Bergenfield address appears at the bottom of the back of the jacket. Includes original inner paper sleeve with the Bergenfield address printed at the bottom. LP will be placed in a plastic lined plain white inner sleeve for shipping. Don't miss this rare gem!
