The Red Hot Chili Peppers came roaring out of California in 1983. They recorded their self titled debut album in 1984. Album number two, 'Freaky Styley', came out in '85, then the third studio album called 'The Uplift Mofo Party Plan' was released in 1987.  Record stores loved them because they sold records, but hated that they didn't know what section to put them in! Funk, punk, hard rock, pop, alternative...it didn't matter. The Chili Peppers are ALL of the above!

'Mofo' put the Peppers on the map, and paved the way for them becoming one of the biggest bands in the world! The Peppers are in the "hundred million plus" club, and is one of a handful of bands to sell at least 100 million albums worldwide. 'Mofo' was the first album to feature all four original band members (Flea, Hillel Slovak, Jack Irons, and Anthony Kiedis) on every song. The guys were covering their junk with a white tube sock. And nothing else! The big hit off of Mofo is the track "Fight Like a Brave".

Album number four, 'Mother's Milk', became the commercial breakthrough that the band was looking for. Suddenly, the Pepper's songs were being played on the radio! A lot! Hillel Slovak overdosed, and passed away in 1988. (RIP Hillel. You helped start it all off, and were an amazing musician. The rock world misses you tremendously!) Jack Irons had also left the band around this time, (and ended up as the drummer for Pearl Jam a little later). Enter the new blood: guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith. And 'Mother's Milk' is an awesome album!

Today we have, for your consideration, a DOUBLE SHOT of 80s vintage Red Hot Chili Peppers picture discs! You'll get BOTH records in this sweet deal. First up is the 12" pic disc of "Fight Like a Brave"! The A side artwork is the band in socks. And only socks! There's a mix of "Fight", (the Mofo mix), and the B side is the Knucklehead mix of "Fight", as well as their cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". (Misspelled on here as Jimi Hendryx.) The B side pic is the origial artwork for the picture sleeve of the 7" release of this track. Separately, these two records can go for anywhere from $75 to $100 each. Not here, and not today!

"Fight" has some substantial scratches on each side. No heavy gouges, but there's definitely some marks. I would highly recommend keeping this off of your turntable. The two mixes can be found on YouTube, as well as a third mix ("Fight Like a Brave", the Not Our Mix mix). Each mix is actually pretty wild, and they're really good! But this is a collectible conversation piece. 70s and 80s picture discs always sounded bad, anyway...

The second item in this rockin' good deal is a shaped picture disc for the single "Knock Me Down", from 'Mother's Milk'. The song was written about and dedicated to Hillel. The shape is the red Pepper's logo. Two songs are on the B side ("Punk Rock Classic" and "Pretty Little Ditty".) The band pic on the B side, with the elephant, is actually the picture sleeve pic of the 7" single of this song ("Knock Me Down"). This comes in a clear PVC jacket, with original backing card. The vinyl looks pretty good, with only a few light surface marks. Nothing too bad, and hardly noticable. The card looks really good, and has no rips or tears, pinholes, or handwriting anywhere on it! I cannot vouch for the sound quality of each record, as I never play specialty vinyl, such as pic discs and colored vinyl.
