FOR LENA AND LENNIE
COOKIN' AT THE CONTINENTAL
from AMG Review by Scott Yanow
Taken from a New Year's Eve concert, never issued prior to the release of this recording by Reference in 1991. With Jerry Dodgion (mostly on alto and flute), guitarist Jimmy Wyble, bassist Red Wooten and drummer John Markham being his sidemen, this was a well-integrated group despite the lack of major names. Norvo's vibe playing was in its prime and he is in excellent form... well worth picking up as an example of Red Norvo's playing in the latter half of the 1950s.
Liner notes by LEONARD FEATHER.
CONDITION:
VINYL (play- & visually graded): NEAR MINT, just 1 tiny mark, does not affect play. Glossy, shiny, beautiful.
COVER: NEAR MINT minus, tiny bit of rw on back, tiny bit of wear.
