R.E.M. : Fables Of The Reconstruction A1 / B1 1st UK Press 1985

This first pressing plays to a very high standard with only very minimal background.  The only obvious intrusion is some static and a little crackle on the 'Life And How To Live It' intro otherwise the album plays with great clarity and depth on both sides.  There are numerous hairlines on the vinyl but they are superficial as they have hardly any impact on the audio.

The cover is very clean and remains in excellent condition and the printed inner sleeve has only minor spotting on one side.

MIRF 1003 // A-1 / B-1

The audio on S1 is Mint(-) (T1 Ex+ / T4 intro VG+)

The audio on S2 is Mint(-) (T1 to T3 Near Mint)

The cover is Ex+

The printed inner is Ex+

The labels are Ex+

Visual description

The vinyl is in very good condition I would say because when you look under a bright light you can see a number of hairlines but the good news is that they have barely any affect on the audio.  The I.R.S labels are very clean with just some spindle wear.

Play grading

'Feeling Gravitys Pull' has only minimal static on the intro and then plays so clearly with only the bare minimum of light static in a couple of places.  One light tick near the end.  Ex+

'Maps And Legends' plays with stunning audio clarity and depth with only a couple of barely audible statics.  Mint-

'Driver 8' has no background, not even a dust tick, and grades as Mint

'Life And How To Live It' has some static / light crackle on the intro and from then plays with stunning quality.  A VG+ intro and Mint- for the remainder.

'Old Man Kensey' plays with outstanding clarity from the outset.  The clarity and depth on the audio here is high end indeed.  Another Mint track.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

'Can't Get There From Here' has only a couple of very quiet easily missed ticks during the middle vocal.  Hardly worth a mention really.  A couple of static ticks on the fade out also so I will say Near Mint

'Green Grow The Rushes' plays with great clarity and I only 'picked' up a couple of barely audible ticks and some minor static on the fade out again.  Near Mint

'Kohoutek' has no intrusion on the audio aside from some static on the fade out.  It seems to be quite common feature of the fade outs on this album!  Near Mint

'(Auctioneer (Another Engine)' has only a couple of  minor statics on the intro and then plays perfectly from then on.  Mint-

'Good Advices' plays with superb audio through every section and again Mint- is fair.

'Wendell Gee' ends the album with incredible clarity and warmth.  It is so close to 'as new' with only a couple of statics on the fade out!  Mint-

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in great condition with only some minor creases around the edges.  The edges have barely any rubbing and the spine is very clean also.  There are only a couple of tiny corner rubs and the front and back cover are unmarked.  It has to grade as Ex+ at the very least.
The printed inner has no side splits or tears and has only a little faint spotting on one side.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
