Description
Oh my...
Here's one of the most sought-after R.E.M. collectables anywhere. This is an original Hib-Tone Records pressing of the debut R.E.M. single, RADIO FREE EUROPE b/w STANDING STILL. These are the rocking early recordings of these songs, not the ones heard on MURMUR. I believe it was Peter Buck who said this version of Radio Free Europe, squashes the more commonly heard one "like a grape."
I bought this single from a friend of the band during a trip to Athens Georgia in 1983. I've probably played it twice. The single is in mint condition and the picture sleeve is near mint, no rips or anything. It's just so cheaply made that sitting on my shelf for almost 30 years has left a bit of wear.
BTW - this is the second pressing of the single. The first pressing doesn't have an address on the single. This copy does have an address.
Good luck!
