RENAISSANCE - self titled
An lovely condition copy, with the gleaming little played vinyl and outstanding stereo audio reproduction being the highlights, of this rare and sought after 1969 1st press prog/psych/rock gem on the coveted "pink i" UK Island label, STEREO, ILPS 9114
The dead wax matrix numbers are :
Side 1 ILPS 9114 A // 1 with stampers "1 3" at 7 o'clock and "RL" and "SS" stamped and etched respectively
Side 2 ILPS 9114 B // 2 with stampers "1 2" at 7 o'clock and "RL" and "SS" etched
An overall excellent condition and highly presentable copy of this "under the radar" 1969 psych/acid/rock gem with gleaming, jet black sheen, A1/B2 1st press vinyl : difficult to identify any marks at all, even with close inspection under a bright light - clearly this record has been very sparingly played; gorgeous "rough"/textured "pink i" Island labels - as is so often the case with these 1st press "rough" labels there are some label indentations but these are purely manufacturing related and (for me at least) only serve to add charm and authenticity to the vinyl itself...the only other marks are a single very small and extremely faint spindle trail on each label adjacent to the centre hole; original poly-lined inner sleeve with correct "British Patent..." and "Made in England" text : no splits or tears and remaining fully functional but there is some creasing towards the corners and some very mild age discolouration. Note that I always insert the vinyl into a brand new inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage; nice, original gatefold outer sleeve - firm edges but with some intermittent scuff marks on the top and bottom edges, some corner rubbing, a couple of tiny "nicks" on the spine which is otherwise in great shape with all spine text remaining nicely intact, a few 1-2cm very light surface "crinkles" adjacent and perpendicular to the spine and a manufacturing fault in that the inside of the gatefold has been stuck in upside down! As you can see from my photos there is also some intermittent scuffing on the inside of the opening edge towards the opening side, but overall the colours, art work, and text on both the inside and outside of the gatefold remain vibrant and with excellent definition and clarity. The highlights is undoubtedly the superb condition vinyl and wonderful audio reproduction - no jumps, skips, repeats, sticks, clicks, interference, or background crackle with wonderful tone and clarity throughout. Brilliant!
The tracks are :
Side 1 :
1.Kings & Queens
2. Innocence
Side 2 :
1. Island
2. Wanderer
3. Bullett
A welcome addition to any serious prog/psych rock vinyl collection and will only continue to gain in value.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 50 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 66 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60's and 70's that I have never come across before. Wonderful! Richard
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard mailer, along with extra protective flange edges, with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.
For this item postage & packaging will be UK £4.00, Royal Mail 1st class, signed for;
Continental Europe £13, and Rest of the World £17 respectively, Royal Mail 1st class international Airmail tracked and signed for
I DO discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.
Good luck with your bidding!
NOTE : My vinyl descriptions comply with the official Record Collector vinyl grading guidelines :
