Art Pepper, The Return Of Art Pepper, Jazz-West JWLP-10, mono. Year of release is 1956. Personnel includes Art Pepper on alto sax, Jack Sheldon on trumpet, Russ Freeman on piano, Leroy Vinnegar on bass, and Shelly Manne on drums. Tracks include Pepper Returns, Broadway, You Go To My Head, Angel Wings, Funny Blues, Five More, Minority, Patricia, Mambo De La Pinta, and Walkin' Out Blues. The record visually grades in good to very good condition under a POWERFUL HALOGEN LAMP. Under ordinary lighting and casual inspection, it passes for VG. The record play grades as VG minus with continual but tolerable noise. The quality of the Jazz-West vinyl is such that the record can still be enjoyed. There is substantial original luster remaining. I have provided sound bytes to assist you in evaluating the play grade. The noisest part of the record is the first track on Side 1. However, this track is among the loudest-playing which serves to reduce the amount of noise that can be perceived. Just check out the sound bytes (recorded from the actual record itself, raw, unprocessed, and including trail-ins). When using the player, use the silver arrows to the left and right of "Audio" in order to view the icons for all ten tracks. Be sure to use the volume control to the right of the part of timing that appears in red. Otherwise, the byte will play too softly. Label are clean with virtually no spindle track marks surrounding the spindle hole. The surfaces of the jacket are strong and sturdy with zero wrinkles or writing. The jacket would get a strong VG grade if it were not for edge splits. The upper edge is split about half-way from where the opening starts. The bottom edge is split completely. The splits are not really noticeable unless the jacket is turned on its side. There is moderate surface wear on the front and back covers but there are virtually no other flaws except for the splits.
