Description

The very first musicassette United Kingdom (UK) release of The Beatles "Revolver"  album in September 1970. In excellent, like new condition and plays perfectly. No writing, marks or damage. Inlay crisp and clean. With clear front, black rear original Norelco case. You are hard pressed to find another one in any condition.

Very rarely will you see this (or any other first release Beatles UK cassette albums) for sale on E Bay. You will see similar REissues from 1972 onwards with the all-gold inlays and white paper labels, but not this. So what distingushes it from the reissues and identifies it as a first release, only available from late 1970 up to the end of 1971. Markedly rarer than the vinyl counterpart, Beatles cassettes were only introduced in small numbers into the market place by a wary EMI at this time, until it became clear that the cassette had mass market appeal from 1972 onwards.

The paper label, the circular 1&7/8ths inches per second logo on the spine, the presence of the cat no TC-PCS 7009 on the spine, the tracklisting on the inside of the inlay, the other Beatles music advertising on the foldover, the album front cover picture extending to the very bottom of the inlay, the elementary "newspaper-like" design and artwork of the inlay, the grey cassette shell. Look under my other items for a Beatles first release UK cassette guide 1968-71 for further detailed info. Upon request, a copy will be sent free with the purchase of the cassette.

Opinion among Beatles collectors is that this first release cassette is one of the rarer ones, (as is the White Album), both of which differed from the already rare white inlay design of the other first release Beatles cassette albums of Sept and Oct 1970.

See my other first release Beatles cassettes under my other items.

This cassette paper label is one where the EMI/Parlophone logo is present - others were made without the logo, due to the expense and shortage of expensive letterpress blocks.
