RICHARD ANTHONY

“EN FRANCES Y ESPAÑOL”

(In French And Spanish)

WOW!! MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original Odeon Records High Fidelity Mono very first press released in Chile in 1969 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), with big Odeon Records logo and small EMI Records logo in labels, catalog number LDC-36697, with hand etched matrix numbers XCHIX-35889 1 in Side A and XCHIX-35890 in Side B, with green/black EMI Odeon Records labels!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!! An authentic very first press of this album only released here in Chile!!!

“RICHARD ANTHONY EN FRANCES Y ESPAÑOL” was an album released in 1969 only in Chile, a compilation album with 12 songs sung in Spanish and French (well, only 3 songs are sung in Spanish, the first song of each side and the last song of Side B), and like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboards for front and back covers, kept all together for an outer plastic bag which’s also part of the cover. Front cover keeps the original artwork of the 1969 album “Richard Anthony” (also titled “Les Ballons” or “Poeme D’Amour”) with tracklist written in Spanish only. Back cover is totally different with album name of Richard Anthony and title written in Spanish only at top edge and tracklist written in Spanish, translated to French or English, with full credits for songwriters and orchestras, and with other 6 recommended albums (Don Partridge, Herman’s Hermits, The Mamas And The Papas, Salvatore Adamo, Engelbert Humperdinck and Gonzalo Gómez Y Su Conjunto). In labels, album title and tracklist are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters. The songs included in this UNIQUE COMPILATION ALBUM are:

Side A

  1. LILY LA ROSADA (Lily The Pink) – Spanish

  2. NO ME GUSTA EL RUIDO (Je N’aime Pas Le Bruit)

  3. MI AMOR NOCTURNO (Mon Amour De La Nuit)

  4. SI CADA NOCHE MUERE UNA ROSA (Si Chaque Soir Meurt Une Rose)

  5. HAY QUE CREER EN LAS ESTRELLAS (Il Faut Croire Aux Étoiles [Let's Go To San Francisco])

  6. ALGO SUJETA MI CORAZON (Quelque Chose Tient Mon Coeur) (Something’s Gotten Hold On My Heart)

Side B

  1. LAS FLECHAS DEL AMOR (Les Ballons) (Little Arrows) – Spanish

  2. NO ES LO BELLO (Ce N'est Pas Ce Qui Est Beau)

  3. POEMA DE AMOR (Poeme D'amour)

  4. INGLESITA (Petite Anglaise)

  5. SEÑOR ALCALDE (Monsieur Le Maire) (Mister Moonlight)

  6. QUE DECIR AHORA (Que Te Dire Encore) – Spanish

If you know the discography of Richard Anthony you could have already noticed that most of songs in this compilation album come from the original 1969 album “Richard Anthony” (“Les Ballons” or “Poeme D’amour”). You can see and compare in this link: http://www.discogs.com/Richard-Anthony-Poeme-Damour/master/605066. So, yes Sirs, this Chilean album has 12 songs and 9 songs come from that album, so it’s clear for me that more than a compilation, this is an edited version of “Richard Anthony” with UNIQUE TRACKLIST. And you can also notice that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz 1” (Side 1) and “Faz 2” (Side 2) but in labels they are only “A” and “B”. And more, you can see 2 errors, the song “Little Arrows” is misspelled “Little ARROW” in back cover and the name of the Spanish singer JOAN Manuel Serrat, songwriter of “Poema De Amor”, is misspelled “JUAN Manuel Serrat”!!! So, here you have another very interesting album released only in Chile, an UNIQUE COMPILATION of Richard Anthony or EDITED VERSION of “Richard Anthony” album, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER, UNIQUE TRACKLIST and UNIQUE ERRORS!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, some moderate wear in all edges, more evident at bottom edges and the sides where the original outer plastic bag is open, with some creases and little rips, some age browning in back cover, but no blemishes or marks of any kind, with a boxed paper at bottom right corner of front cover glued for someone in the radio station which owned the record. The front sheet of paper was cut, maybe by a Gillete when they cut the plastic to glue that boxed paper, but even with the evident wear of the outer plastic bag, it has protected very well the fragile cover. The record is thick and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with scuffs, light hairlines and soft scratches, more evident in Side B, which don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in VG+ or EX- condition, clean and clear, with some spindle hole wear, a big writing in both sides and a white paper numbered “021” in Side A. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with soft crackles and some light occasional pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts between the songs, with a pop in song “Mi Amor Nocturno” and a click in song “Hay Que Creer En Las Estrellas”, which don’t cause major distraction from the sound. Overall, maybe not a record for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but still a great addition to a collection of Richard Anthony and/or French pop, a record with a very nice cover and great sound quality after 46 years, which won’t disappoint anyone, a record to listen and enjoy from the beginning to the end!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, the UNIQUE BACK COVER ARTWORK, the UNIQUE TRACKLIST and the UNIQUE ERRORS!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
